Who We Are

Brief overview of our history

AID FOR LIFE was founded in 2018 in response to the severe Venezuelan Complex Humanitarian Emergency, which has affected the country since 2016, especially due to high levels of child malnutrition. In the face of food shortages and a lack of essential medical supplies, breastfeeding infants became one of the most vulnerable populations. In most of the country’s hospitals, the shortage of infant formula—vital during the first months of life—reached alarming levels.

Aware of this urgency, AID FOR LIFE launched the Healing Venezuela program to combat malnutrition and mitigate the consequences of delayed childhood development. This program distributed infant formula to 2,000 babies whose mothers were unable or advised not to breastfeed due to various health conditions, such as HIV, mastitis, chemotherapy, or, in more tragic cases, the death of the biological mother.

As the humanitarian crisis in Venezuela intensified, it led to mass migration affecting the region. Since the spring of 2022, New York has faced an unprecedented crisis, with more than 200,000 migrants and asylum seekers arriving in the city. Many of them crossed extremely dangerous routes, such as the Darién Gap, highlighting the urgent need for assistance.

AID FOR LIFE expanded its support to asylum seekers—mostly Venezuelans—focusing on addressing the needs of this vulnerable population in New York. The organization provides comprehensive support through the distribution of food and clothing, access to medical services, assistance with immigration processes, and psycho-emotional support, regardless of immigration status or health condition.

Today, AID FOR LIFE remains a key player in humanitarian assistance and the integration of migrants and refugees, ensuring that displaced individuals receive the support they need, improving their quality of life, and promoting their inclusion in the communities that welcome them. With a strong commitment and an adaptive response capacity, the organization continues to demonstrate its impact and relevance in the region.
